...that Caleb in season 7 Buffy is much less annoying if you can imagine that it's really Mal, pulling an elaborate job that requires him to talk like a misogynistic git?

ooh, i'll have to perform that experiment!
i saw Season 7 before i saw Firefly, so Caleb really creeped me out, and it was a bit jarring to see Captain Mal at first (although thankfully they're such different characters that it only bothered me for a very short while).

See I found him really irritating the first time (I think it's the accent). I only recently saw firefly, by which time I had pretty much forgotten creepy Caleb. Now on re-watching, I see Mal!
