Is anyone else getting nasty ads from LJ that take over your browser pretending to 'look for malware'? I've had to force quit the program twice today and it's seriously irritating.

ETA: from other data points, it seems this is the effect of me subcoming to the ads account (so I could have more than 6 icons!) without coughing up for a paid account. My sincere apologies to anyone whose browser is being suspended in animation by these evil ads!

Very much worth getting hold of - I don't have the URL to hand but a quick Google search should take you there. It does mean you end up with a lot of gaps on some news sites, for example, but better than some unwanted animation trying to sell you a car.

Yes, google for it, install it, and remember to also subscribe to lists of ad sites to block (the installation process takes you through this). Bye bye irritating bandwith-wasting banner ads, for good! And I don't agree that it looks bad on news sites - many are just left with a very small gap labelled "advertisement" where there was an annoying animation breaking up the text - much better to have got rid of them!
